Goals:
• To evaluate the effect of vegetation cover on land cover mapping from satellite microwave data and to develop a soil moisture and snow pack mapping tools to be used as additional input to hydrological forecasting models which would add to flash flood forecasting accuracy and warning capabilities for AHPS of NWS.

• To produce NDVI from Geostationary satellite data and compare & validate against NDVI products from polar orbiting satellites to demonstrate advantages of using geo satellite data for NDVI monitoring.
